Corporate Coins give unique authenticity a new meaning for your business.
Besides doing a booming business for all branches of the U.S. military and armed services, The Monterey Company creates coins for many businesses around the world.
Generally, business coins are smaller than standard military coin, which is 1.75 or 2 inches on average. Businesses tend to prefer a 1.5-inch coin, which is about the same size as a U.S. dollar coin.
“With military challenge coins, bigger is always better,” said a Monterey Company salesperson who specializes in coins. “They want to beat the other guys, but businesses don’t need such a large coin.”
One Monterey Company customer wanted a coin for her 200 employees to create camaraderie and boost morale during these challenging economic times. “She had an image of a man-robot on the front, while on the back she wanted to show satellites orbiting their company logo,” said the salesperson working on the company coin.
“It’s great when you can lock in a good idea to orbit satellites around a logo, but it’s another to get them to look natural and authentic,” said the art director.
The customer offered up the satellite link. “I was relieved because there are so many variations of satellites out there. We had to make sure that we had the right ones,” the art director said.
Then she sent the satellite images to the art department to be “vectorized,” which means all the parts of the overall image were separated so that they could be changed. Then the art director manipulated the satellites so they looked like they were orbiting the company logo in the center.
The customer and her team loved images of the orbiting satellites so much that they decided to put them on their company T-shirt. They asked The Monterey Company for assistance.
“We’re happy to send final art to customers who want to create T-shirts,” said Paul Stark, president of The Monterey Company. “It’s an added value that we offer our customers. We do it for our trading pin customers who also want T-shirts for Cooperstown.”
“This is a good example of how a strong image created by our staff has a longer life beyond a coin or lapel pin,” added the salesperson. “Some of our coin images end up on PowerPoint presentations at large corporate meetings as well. We have many loyal customers because they know they can count on us for strong images that have added value.”
