Awareness ribbon pins are curing diseases, raising awareness and causing people to be more compassionate- one color at a time.
Colors can be very powerful and represent different emotions, affect people’s moods, and have different meanings in different cultures. They convey different messages based on the receiver’s perception. Awareness ribbons in particular utilize color to represent their cause and gain awareness.
Awareness ribbon pins are hands down the easiest, most discussed and most efficient way to raise both awareness and funds for a cause. These special ribbons are short pieces of colored ribbon that are folded into a loop and are a way for the wearers to make a statement of support for a cause or issue.
The health world makes great use of these ribbons by using them to signify various illnesses and disabilities. There are many different ribbons, using the colors of the rainbow, to represent some of the most common and harmful diseases, disabilities, and causes. Some of the most common and well-known awareness ribbon colors include:
- YELLOW: Deployed Soldiers Awareness
- PURPLE: Domestic Violence Awareness
- RED: AIDS Awareness
- PINK: Breast Cancer Awareness
- BLUE: Child Abuse Awareness
- PERIWINKLE: Eating Disorder Awareness
- GRAY: Diabetes Awareness
But ribbons are easily damaged and lost, but pins are a lasting way to share this powerful means of awareness with supporters, fundraisers, volunteers and, most importantly, survivors. These ribbon pins can be a treasured memento for family members and friends who have lost a loved one in the service or to a disease.
The Monterey Company is a supporter of these causes and creates awareness pins based off of these awareness ribbon colors as a way to spark dialogue and show support for a particular disease. Being that we have just entered the month of October, we are particularly focused on breast cancer awareness. Wearing a pink label awareness ribbon pin can spark a conversation and inform others about this cause and the help that it needs.
