Did You Know?

There is a whole language of acronyms and phrases used by “cachers”. Keep your eyes peeled for these terms both online and in logbooks:

DNF: “Did Not Find”, Used when a container or cache in unable to be found. When seen repeatedly this can alert other cachers and cache-owners to potential problems or missing caches.
FTF: “First To Find”, used by the first person to locate the cache and sign the log. Often cache-owners will include higher-value items as a reward for the FTF.
TFTC: “Thanks For The Cache”. Obviously a token of gratitude toward the cache owner for creating the cache. Another commonly used acronym expressing the same sentiment is “TFTH” “Thanks For The Hunt” or “Thanks For The Hike” or “Thanks For the Hide”.
TNLN: “Took Nothing, Left Nothing”, used when a finder of a cache does not trade any items in the cache. Just “TN” or “LN” can be used individually as well.
SL:“Signed Log”, and can be combined with the one above to form the super-acronym “TNLNSL”.
