Promotional iron pins are made using our standard die striking method. Each design is stamped into an iron based metal blank and is then hand filled with a soft enamel. Promotional iron pins can accommodate up to nine enamel colors. The pricing below includes up to 4 colors. Please inquire with us for a custom quote for pin designs using more than 4 colors. Each pin can be plated in 22K gold, silver, or black nickel for no extra charge. An epoxy dome is used to protect the enamel colors and is available on all orders at no extra charge.

Iron does have a slight disadvantage when compared to pins that are struck in copper or bronze since those are struck into a harder metal. Because this is the case, when being struck by the die, iron pins typically have less sharp images than a pin that is struck into bronze or copper. The appearance of this process is almost same as die struck soft enamel, however, you still can tell the difference when observing edges of the metal lines. Iron soft enamel is electroplated by rolling machine, with no polishing taking place after being hand-enameled. A clear epoxy coating for extra durability is standard. Promotional iron pins come with a standard post and butterfly/military clutch back and are individually poly bagged for shipping.

The Making of a Promotional Iron Pin

1. STEP 1 Stamping Molding Molds the metal surface to form the design.
2. STEP 2 Outline Cutting * Cutting molds are made separately, then cut to the exact outline of the design. * Outline cutting molds may be required depending on the complexity of the design. * If a center hole or cut-out is required, an additional cut-through mold must be used.
3. STEP 3 Attachment Solder attachment onto the back of each piece.
4. STEP 4 Plating Plating now can be processed. The quality of plating varies with the length of time the metal is soaked in the plating liquid.
5. STEP 5 Coloring* Soft enamel is carefully inserted by hand, one color at a time, using different sized syringes. * Drying. * To prevent defects, a high degree of skill is required in order to keep each color and the correct amount of enamel in the proper area.
6. STEP 6 Cleaning Excess color and impurities are then wiped off the metal surfaces.
7. STEP 7 Baking The metal piece is baked at approximately 450F for 12 to15 minutes.
8. STEP 8 Epoxy Coating Clear epoxy is then applied to the surface to protect the enamel from color fading and cracking. (Epoxy coating is optional and provided according to customer's requirements.)
9. STEP 9 Inspection & Packing All items are strictly inspected before delivery. Customer?s satisfaction is guaranteed! .

Bolder designs are recommended in order to prevent any unsatisfactory coloring caused by lines and figures that are too thin or too small.

General enamel coloring requires a surrounding metal space to ensure good quality painting results. Therefore it is usually necessary to allow for a blank metal rim (0.3mm minimum).
