Design custom coins, memorialize special events.
Most people know Lockheed Martin as the U.S. company that builds the finest military aircraft in the world, yet, they are also the largest provider of IT services, system integration and training for the U.S. government.
Those from Lockheed Martin’s Information Systems & Global Services (IS&GS) business unit recently attended the 48th Annual International Paris Air Show that attracted 205,000 attendees and 2,000 exhibitors from 48 countries.
Celebrating 100 years of aviation history, the International Paris Air Show featured flight demonstrations from 30-year old aircraft from 1909 to 1960.
For their booth, those from Lockheed Martin’s IS&GS unit handed out special coins created by The Monterey Company. The 1.75-inch coins were elegantly created in shiny gold with a sandblasted background. In the center on the front of the coin featured a 3-D globe with “IS&GS” in large metal letters written across it. Behind the globe were sun rays with “Paris 2009” written in smaller text underneath.
However, the back of the coin showed how innovative designers could be. A Lockheed Martin jet swoops through the text, “Paris Air Show 100 Years” leaving a smoke trail behind. The Eiffel Tower replaces the “1” in 100, and below are other Paris landmarks including the Arc de Triomphe and Notre Dame Cathedral.
Attendees were given this unique coin as a memento. It made a lasting impression, and its uniqueness set itself apart from the many paper and plastic handouts given out by other exhibitors.
“When the attendees sift through all the material they collected from the International Air Show in Paris, Lockheed Martin’s coin will stand out and be remembered,” said their Monterey Company salesperson.
