Celebrate earth’s beauty, resources, and life with custom pins that help encourage it.

The first Earth Day took place in 1970, as a creation of then US Senator Gaylord Nelson. It was intended as a day to inspire awareness and appreciation for the Earth’s environment and is held every year now on April 22nd. The movement continues to grow and Earth Day celebrations occur all over the globe on this day.

Here at The Monterey Company, we have always been conscientious about recycling all that we could, even using old paper as a scratch when needing to take a message or make lists. Reducing our footprint on the planet is a priority. This year, as the Earth Day approaches once again, a barrage of emails has begun to fly back and forth between some of our employees prompting one another to think about and encourage the implementation of new and improved ways by which we can reduce our impact on the natural environment.

Along with using fluorescent lighting and recycling/reusing paper trash, we will be converting to using only green cleaning products that are non-toxic and biodegradable. We will also be investing in a stainless steel compost bin so that our employees with a green thumb can utilize our food waste in their compost piles and home gardens. It is great having a kitchen that our employees can use for storing and preparing lunches, but providing a dedicated compost bin in our Monterey Company kitchen means that all those food scraps will be used to feed the soil rather than winding up in a landfill.

We keep striving to be as green as possible in our daily operations. Being a company that is focused recognition – check out our specialty recognition lapel pins – we believe it is important to recognize the environment that sustains us this Earth Day. Every little bit counts. To learn more, hundreds of festivals will occur on April 22nd across the country. Attend one. As we all continue to implement more earth-friendly practices, we are making the world better for one another and for future generations.
