Airlines and Gogo offer wifi and souvenir lapel pins.

Gogo is the wireless internet that is now being offered to airline passengers by Aircell. According to the company’s website, more than 65 percent of all airline passengers carry a laptop onto the plane with them. People want to stay connected to their work and lives on the ground and Gogo and major airlines want to extend internet service for your convenience. To thank you for using their service, these companies will often give you free custom souvenir lapel pins.

Once the airplane reaches 10,000 feet, those passengers with WiFi-enabled devices, such as laptops, smartphones, and PDAs, can surf the internet, check email, connect to their corporate VPNs and more.

This is a relatively new phenomenon, however. On August 20th of this year, Gogo celebrated its first anniversary. According to the company’s website, Gogo is now available on 553 commercial aircraft serving 22 million passengers. Now 65 percent of all flights between JFK and LAX are Gogo equipped, and that number is expected to increase to 92 percent by year’s end.

To help spread the word, The Monterey Company has created lapel pins for four major airlines now equipped with Gogo, including American Airlines, Delta Air Lines, Virgin America Airlines and AirTram Airways.

Airline personnel, especially ticket handlers and flight attendants, are expected to wear these lapel pins to let passengers know that they are equipped with Gogo.

The 1-inch colorful lapel pins are relatively simple in design. They feature the airline’s logo coupled with the neon green Gogo logo, which depicts an arc over the text.¬† In the center of its pin, AirTram featured an airplane in flight with sound waves on either side.

With these lapel pins, passengers will instantly know that WiFi is available. And for more information, they can read more about it in a flyer found in the seat pocket.

“The beauty of these Gogo lapel pins is that they are decorative, yet instantly relay a message”, said Paul Stark, president of The Monterey Company, who plans to use Gogo when he travels.

Paul concluded by saying, “Everyone looks to flight attendants for safety instructions, food and drinks, and more. These Gogo souvenir lapel pins are the best inexpensive advertising that the airlines have right now,”.
