But we know that not everything should be permanent-that's why we offer a wide variety of hook-and-loop patches that can be interchanged and mixed-and-matched to create a versatile promotional product for you.
With hook-and-loop backing, you can adhere patches with embroidery to any type of surface from clothing to hats to backpacks. You can also switch your patch between different placements, making them a versatile and effective way to represent your brand or organization.
What is a Hook-and-Loop Patch?
A hook and loop patch has a special type of backing that allows you to easily adhere to different surfaces. Hook-and-loop is similar to Velcro-to adhere to the patch, you need two different attachment sides. One side has tiny hooks, while the other side has small loops that the hooks attach too.
The front of the patch, however, can be whatever you like. Depending on your organization and your needs, you can custom-design the patch to look however you'd like. Choose everything from the shape to the design to the color palette for something that's totally unique to you. You can also choose from different materials and styles, including PVC patches or embroidered and two-dimensional or three-dimensional. Our talented design team will walk you through all of your options and explain the entire process to help you create the patch you've been dreaming of.
How do Hook-and-Loop Patches Work?
Hook-and-loop fasteners are a genius, zipperless way to secure two things together. Every hook-and-loop consists of two different pieces of fabric, which are then sewn onto fabric. One side features tiny hooks, while the order side features tiny loops. When you press the two pieces together to attach them, the hooks catch onto the loops to create a temporary bond. To separate the two pieces, you simply peel them apart. Removing them doesn't cause any damage to either side or to the fabric, allowing you to remove and adhere the patch many times and to many different surfaces.
First created in the 1940s, hook-and-loop fasteners have evolved over time. Most styles are now made of synthetic fibers to help with durability and wear. Since their invention, hook-and-loop fasteners have become extremely popular thanks to their ease-of-use and their versatility. This type of fastening is used for everything from promotional patches to shoe closures and personal accessories like wallets and backpacks.
What's the Difference Between Hook-and-Loop and Velcro?
Velcro and hook-and-loop aren't necessarily different-Velcro is simply a brand-name version of a hook-and-loop fastener. Because of its wide usage, Velcro is often used to describe all types of hook-and-loop fasteners, similar to how most bandages are referred to as Band-Aids. There are many other brands, however, that also creates hook-and-loop fasteners in addition to Velcro.
No matter the brand, hook-and-loop has a wide variety of applications and uses. It's easy-to-use and apply, requires very little maintenance, and can be used in many different ways to securely hold two pieces together.
