What is a Graduation Honor Medallion?
A graduation medallion is an ornate medal, usually plated in gold, and hung on a beautiful ribbon. Schools hand these medallions out to students who complete their education and other outstanding achievements at the end of the school year. Usually, these medallions are given with the graduate diploma at the end of their education. But graduates will hold onto those medallions for years to come.
Why Do Graduates Receive Medals?
Every Graduation Deserves Recognition
Academic Achievement
The most common way to commemorate graduations is for outstanding academic achievement. Graduates who leave the school summa cum laude or valedictorian have put in an immense amount of effort to put themselves at the top of their class. It’s only fair that they are respected for that work and honored for their time. This is especially true for more private schools or colleges that require even higher education standards.
Extracurricular Achievement
We don’t give medals out for just academic reasons! School clubs, student organizations, and Greek organizations also give graduation medallions to students at the end of their tenure. It’s a wonderful way to thank the students who dedicated their time and energy to these activities. Committing to years of effort outside of school shows a passion for their endeavors.
Every Graduate Deserves to Remember
We all remember the effort it takes to get a college degree, and it’s only gotten harder every year. That effort can be recognized on a resume for applying to different jobs following graduation. Various levels of academic achievements also deserve recognitions like valedictorian or magna cum laude.
You might recall the hours put into extracurricular activities combined with your studies. So the moments that we steal between everything matter. Receiving a medallion for achievements can be cherished and reminisced on long after leaving school.
Give Your Graduate A Reason to Come Back
Graduation medallions are a small favor that can go a long way. After graduating, students can offer a kind return for the kindness you offer to them. One of the best ways they return the favor of honoring them tends to be in donations to the school or volunteer work. These graduates encourage their children to apply for scholarships to their alma mater too, making for more returning students to the schools.
Do Graduate Medallions Have to Be Worn?
Medallions are usually worn after being given during a graduation ceremony. This doesn’t mean that’s the only way to present a medallion to your graduating class. We offer two different kinds of cases that we can place the medallion into for you.
- Plastic Box: We have a black plastic box with a clear top. They’re a great choice to give an extra flare to your graduate medallions while maintaining a budget.
- Velvet Box: Though a bit pricier than plastic boxes, velvet makes for an even more prestigious delivery.
That also means that the ribbon wouldn’t need to be a long lanyard that has to be worn. Boxes are perfect for showcasing these medallions both during and after graduation. They make for easy storage and great decorations in places like a study or office.
So Where Can I Start?
When you have a design that you’re ready to use for your graduation, we offer fully custom medallions and ribbons that you can use for any event, not just graduation. The ribbons are also fully customizable so we can make different ribbon colors for levels of recognition.
